2000 years ago Jesus Christ was crucified. According Matthew 27:51 an earthquake of mega proportions took place.

51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks were split;

Matthew 27:54 records the Roman solders reactions to said earthquake.

When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son of God!"

Luke 23:45 also records a violent reaction of the earth as it's creators body died.

for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.

The Book of Mormon, a record of the native peoples on the American Continent declares many cities sank beneath the water 2000 years ago, right after Christ's crucification in ancient Judea. The Book of Mormon agrees with Matthew, that there was a great and terrible earthquake of such giant proportions it destroyed almost all, then existing civilization on the continent. Must was lost.

I submit the following verses from III Nephi Chapter 4: 6-12. The setting? Christ has just been crucified in Judea.

And it came to pass that in the thirty and fourth year,
in the first month, in the fourth day of the month,
There arose a great storm, such an one as
never had been known in all the land;
7 And there was also a great and terrible tempest;
And there was terrible thunder, insomuch that it did shake
the whole earth as if it was about to divide asunder;
And there were exceeding sharp lightnings,
such as never had been known in all the land.
8 And the City of Zarahemla did take fire;
And the City of Moroni did sink into the depths of the sea
and the inhabitants thereof were drowned;
9 And the earth was carried up upon the City of Moronihah,
that in the place of the city thereof there became
a great mountain;
And there was a great and terrible destruction
in the Land Southward.
10 But behold, there was a more great and
terrible destruction in the Land Northward;
For behold, the whole face of the land was changed
because of the tempests and the whirlwinds and the
thunderings and the lightnings and the exceeding great
quaking of the whole earth;
11 And the highways were broken up,
And the level roads were spoiled,
And many smooth places became rough,
And many great and notable cities were sunk,
And many were burned,
And many were shook till the buildings thereof
had fallen to the earth,
And the inhabitants thereof were slain,
And the places were left desolate.
12 And there were some cities which remained,
but the damage thereof was exceeding great,
And there were many in them which were slain;

III Nephi 4:31-32 mentions more Cities sunk under water.

31 "And behold, the City of Gilgal have I caused to be sunk,
And the inhabitants thereof to be buried up
in the depths of the earth;
32 Yea, and the City of Onihah, and the inhabitants thereof,
And the City of Mocum, and the inhabitants thereof,
And the City of Jerusalem, and the inhabitants thereof-
And waters have I caused to come up in the stead thereof,

When we see the hidden cities, temples and walls which are sunk under the lakes of Puru and off the American Coasts, we need to realize what happened, why it happened. We need to examine closely the Book of Mormon. Because it accurately tells the story of what happened to the American Indian, and why they fell as a people.
